Day Fourtysix: 28 November 2009

We picked out the Tulisiak’s Christmas tree today. It is pretty big, but not as big as Niko’s (if you ever saw it). The tree farm had a cool big holiday store that was kinda like holiday land at the San Fransisco Macys, but a little more rustic? It was sweet nonetheless. Other than that it was kinda a day of lazing around and school work, just what vacation is designed for. Also, I’m excited to go back to school and get the last of my christmas decorations with Tully sometime in the upcoming week. We still need a (smallish) Christmas tree for our room.

According to a Senate report, Osama bin Laden was unquestionably within reach of U.S. troops in the mountains of Tora Bora when American military leaders made the crucial and costly decision not to pursue the terrorist leader with massive force. The report asserts that the failure to kill or capture bin Laden at his most vulnerable in December 2001 has had lasting consequences. Bin Laden’s escape laid the foundation for today’s reinvigorated Afghan insurgency and inflamed the internal strife now endangering Pakistan.

The Obama administration, battling a foreclosure crisis that shows no signs of relenting, will step up pressure on mortgage companies to do more to help people remain in their homes, White House officials reported.

The chairman of the Federal Reserve, Ben Bernanke, is concerned that congressional efforts at financial reform could weaken the central bank’s ability to handle future crises and may politicize monetary policy.

Finally, I know you don’t care anything about Notre Dame football, and if I told you all the details about what it has been doing to me you’d probably be mad at me for caring so much about a sports team. But, we have lost 4 straight games (the last 4 of the season) to finish unranked and 6-6 for the second season in a row. And an angry fan punched our quarterback outside a bar last weekend and he is probably going to leave school early to go play in the NFL and our head coach is going to be fired, but we have to pay him $18 million dollars to break the contract we have with him, and we don’t have another good coach lined up and we just suck and it looks like we are going to suck next year too and everyone makes fun of me all the time and I hate it! Gah!
