Day Twentythree: 5 November 2009

It is Guy Fawkes day, and a lot happened.

Timmy Lincecum was busted for speeding and possessing small amounts of marijuana. He was fined for the misdemeanor on Washington.

A Woman in Ohio claims that she survived an assault by Anthony Sowell, the serial killer, but that she never told the police out of fear.

The big news today was that there was a big shooting in Fort Hood Texas, where I was born and lived until we moved to California. Major Nidal Hasan, who was a psychiatrist for soldiers suffering form severe post traumatic stress disorder, allegedly went into a soldier readiness center (where those who are about to be deployed go for medical screenings) and opened fire with semi-automatic pistols. He killed 12 people and wounded another 31. He was shot by the police, and is in the hospital currently. It is reported that he was going to be deployed in a couple weeks, and was very upset about it due to the things he heard from soldiers returning form duty, but he has made no comments yet. I am really shaken up by this, so I’m going to bed.
